Overview

For the last fifteen years Members of the Youth Parliament from across the UK have come together to debate and vote on policy, as well as take part in workshops, debates, and networking opportunities at the UK Youth Parliament Annual Sitting.

We are delighted to invite you to the UK Youth Parliament's 16th Annual Sitting at the University of York

Who can attend?
This event is only open to MYPs and their support worker(s). If an MYP is unable to attend, then a deputy can be nominated from the elected youth council/forum/parliament, to attend in their place.

What time does the sitting start and finish?
Registration will be open from 11am – 1:30pm Friday 22nd July. The programme will finish no later than 3pm on Sunday 24th July

How much will it cost?
We have tried hard to negotiate the best deal and pass any savings on to Local Authorities, and are able to offer a discounted Early Bird price until the end of April of £325. Standard price (end April – early June): £340. Both prices are per delegate.

All rooms are single occupancy with en-suites

Where will I be sleeping?
Accommodation is in a blocks of university halls in one area of the campus close to the buildings we'll be using for the weekend.

We will try as hard as possible to:

• Have male and female only floors
• Keep youth workers close to their young people
• Reserve accessible rooms for those who need them

Is food and drink included?
YES, full catering from Friday lunch until Sunday lunch is included in the ticket price.

When do I need to register by?
Registration will close on Friday 3rd June 2016 at midday.

Invoicing
You have the opportunity to receive your invoice in the 2015/16 financial year or next financial year. There is a compulsory question on the online booking form to specify which you require, which must be selected at the time of registration. All invoices will be issued by Friday 24th June and must be paid before the Annual Sitting.

Can I buy extra spaces at UKYP Annual Sitting?
Unfortunately no, you may only bring your nominated MYP(s) and up to two workers per authority. If you need to bring additional workers, please contact zoe.cumberland@byc.org.uk as soon as possible.

Can I register spaces now even if I don't know the names of the young people attending?
YES - providing that you provide UKYP with the names by Friday 3rd June 2016 at midday. Please put ‘Young Person’ in the name space if you are unsure of the names of participants. We will need this information to complete the rooming list; a hefty task!

Cancellation Policy
BYC will be enforcing a strict cancellation policy, any cancellations received after Friday 3rd June 2016 at midday or any no-shows on the day will be charged the full delegation amount. You will need to read and accept the full cancellation policy during the registration process.

Despite the lower prices we have been able to offer this year, we are aware of the cost of this event. As a local authority, if you feel that you are unable to send staff to the event, but would like your MYP(s) to attend, please contact your Youth Democracy Coordinator. They will be able to request offers of help from other Local Authorities for additional duty of care responsibilities for your MYP(s).
